RWAKYAKIBUNYA SACCO is a savings and credit organization that began its journey in the year 2000. The idea of formulating this SACCO was driven by 11 visionary members who had converged at Kibiito Parish Church of Uganda to submit their monthly church collections.
The founding members included Lay Readers, Reverends, and Treasurers serving the churches under Kibiito Parish Church of Uganda. These pioneers recognized the need for a community-based financial institution that would serve the economically active poor in the Rwenzori region.
On January 24th, 2006, RWAKYAKIBUNYA was fully registered as a savings and credit cooperative (SACCO) by the Registrar of Cooperatives and received registration number 7532/Rcs. This marked the beginning of our formal operations as a regulated financial institution.
Our name comes from the 7 churches where our founding members served:
RWA - Rwano | KYA - Kyatwa | KI - Kimbugu & Kibiito | BU - Bubwika & Busamba | NYA - Nyamugoro
"Kamu kamu nugwo muganda" - Step by step we build together
